Fancy Stuff For Woodturners
Guibourtia demeusei - also sometimes called African Rosewood. Mostly comes from
Cameroon and Gabon, these trees can be huge. The wood is medium red-brown with
lighter red to purple veining. Another beautiful, dense exotic that really takes a polish.
Great accent wood, and great for stoppers. I've seen it matched as an accent on Norfolk
Island Pine pieces, and it really matches the knots and looks pretty cool. Another wood
that's easy to turn and looks great in a collection, plus it's fun to say!
The wood marked as 'curly' will have an interlocking grain and the figure shows up more
like what we see in Cherry, versus the tight curl in hard Maple. Very pretty in bigger
pieces which can show off the chatoyancy.
